Michael Steven is a Senior Associate with Kerfoot & Company. Michael is a general litigator and his practice includes employment law, acting for both employers and employees, estate and matrimonial litigation, personal injury and ICBC claims, debt collection, foreclosure, strata law and contract disputes.
Michael appears at all levels of court in British Columbia, including the British Columbia Court of Appeal and has appeared before numerous administrative tribunals, including Human Rights Tribunals, the Insurance Council of British Columbia, and the Real Estate Council of British Columbia. Mr. Steven represents a number of sport governing bodies in British Columbia and has particular knowledge of sports law.
Michael obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Honours English literature in 1973 from the University of British Columbia and a law degree in 1976 from Cambridge University in England.
Michael is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, the Vancouver Bar Association and the Canadian Bar Association. He has been a guest lecturer at the People’s Law School and the Continuing Legal Education Society. Michael has been active in his community as a volunteer leader with Scouts Canada and was recently the President of the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Michael also volunteers for ProBono Law BC, Access Justice, and the Salvation Army in providing pro bono legal services for persons in need.
